JACKMAN – Three area mushers earned high marks at the International Sled Dog Racing Association’s Northeast Championship, a skijoring race held last weekend at Jackman. The event was hosted by the Down East Sled Dog Club.

Betsy McGettigan of Norway, grabbed the championship in the Adult 1-Dog Speed Class, finishing the 21.6-mile course with a time of 1:25:46. She finished ninth in the Adult 4-Dog Speed Class, completing the 15-mile course with a time of 1:02:31.

Jeff Brannen of Poland, was fifth in the Adult 1-Dog Speed Class (1:37:12), and second in the Adult 2-Dog Speed Class (1:24:08).

Heather Brannen of Poland, captured fifth place in the Adult 4-Dog Speed Class with a clocking of 57:32.
