RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – Sherman L. Cole, 76, of Wyckoff, N.J, and Sebago, died Tuesday, March 8, at the Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, N.J.
Born in West Paris, he was a resident of Wyckoff, N.J., for the last four years. He was a mechanical engineer for Ingersoll-Rand, in Montvale, N.J., for 43 years, before his retirement.
He was a member of the Sebago Community Church, in Sebago. He was also a member of the board of directors of the American Red Cross, Bergen-Hudson Chapter, and previously served as its chairman, and a member of the board, University of Maine Foundation.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the USS Essex with the VA113 Attack Squadron.
Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Edith (nee Snow) Cole of Wyckoff; three daughters, Cynthia Rouse and her husband, James, of Houston, Texas, Laura Hutchens and her husband, John, of Indianapolis, Ind., Priscilla Kramer and her husband, Jeffrey, of Dumont, N.J.; one sister, Priscilla Durden of Williamsburg, Va.; and four grandchildren.
