BATH – Beverly H. Gauvin, 72, a lifelong Bath resident, died Friday morning, March 11, following a long, courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and lung disease.
She was born in Bath on April 13, 1932, a daughter of Helen (Hall) and Edward H. Van Buren Sr.
She was educated in Bath schools, and was a graduate of Morse High School in 1949.
Following high school, Bev was employed for several years at New England Telephone Co. as a repair operator.
She married Robert J. Gauvin on July 7, 1956. He died Feb. 1, 1992.
She had a love of frogs, and had an extensive collection of ceramic and stuffed frogs. She also loved her French poodles, Daniel and Pierre; camping at Moody’s Island in Nobleboro, trips to Small Point Beach; and watching the Lifetime Channel.
Bev will be remembered as a loving mom.
She is survived by two sons, R. Daniel Gauvin and his wife, Dorothy, of Rumford, and Jeffrey W. Gauvin and his wife, Nathalie, of Woolwich; a sister, Donna Gurney of Brunswick; three brothers, Edward H. Van Buren Jr. and his wife, Gladys, of Bath, Richard Freeman and his wife, Sandra, of Bath, and Donald Freeman and his wife, Vivian, of North Bath; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hillhouse for the care given to Bev.
