NORWAY – Maxine A. Bean, 79, of Norway, died at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway on March 16, after a brief illness.

She was born at Milton Plantation, on June 9, 1925, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle Taylor Clifford. She was a graduate of Woodstock High School.

She had worked for many years at the local shoe shop as a floor supervisor. She was a member of the Good Sam Campers’ Association and the Women’s Auxiliary of Locke Mills. She enjoyed snowmobiling, and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She lived in the Norway area most all her life. She married Ernest Bean on June 25, 1944.

She is survived by her husband of Norway; a daughter, Carol A. Richardson of Norway; a sister, Phyllis Lowe of West Paris; a brother, Donald Clifford of Dixfield; three grandchildren, Douglas Craig Richardson of Norway, and Pamela Chaplin and Jessica Richardson, both of South Paris; and two great-grandchildren, Riley Douglas Chaplin and Bryce Thomas Chaplin, both of South Paris.
