LIVERMORE FALLS – A Livermore Falls man remained in jail Monday on $2,500 cash bail after police responded to an assault complaint and confiscated 30 guns from the man’s property.
Doug Rollins, 58, was arrested late Saturday on charges of aggravated assault, obstructing the report of a crime or injury, and possession of a firearm by a felon, Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.
Police received a report from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department of a 911 hang-up call, then a call from a relative at the River Road home, Steward said.
Rollins allegedly hit a woman in the head with a pistol and a phone, Steward said.
Officers Maurice Drouin and Steve Gould went to the home and were given consent to search the River Road property, Steward said.
The officers took 30 weapons – rifles and handguns -from the property, he said.
Rollins had previously been convicted of a felony, which includes a stipulation that forbids owning or possessing a firearm, Steward said.
Rollins was still in custody at an Auburn jail Monday, an Androscoggin County jail worker said.
