SOUTH PARIS – Donald “Don” Alan Aylward, 60, of Mason Township, died at the Maine Veterans Home on March 21.

He was born in Willimantic, Conn., on May 6, 1944, the son of Francis and Evelyn (Bankert) Aylward.

He had worked for Echo Wood Products for 21 years, was a millwright at Northeast Industrial in Winthrop, a contractor with Rodney Jordan and most recently was the public works mechanic for the town of Bethel.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam era, having served 13 months in Korea as a diesel mechanic. He married Elsie Grover on Dec. 31, 1966.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years of Mason Township; one son, Josh Aylward, of Mason Township; three daughters, Eileen Flynn and her husband, Chris, and their children, Madison and Lucy, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Diane Merrill and her husband, Chris, and their children, Teague and Mackenzie, all of Albany and Crystal Aylward, of Manassas, Va.; one brother, Robert Aylward and his wife, Tanya, of East Hartford, Conn.; and one sister, Alicia Aylward and her husband, Jelle Wiersma, of Attleboro, Mass.
