OTISFIELD – Leonard J. Schaff Sr., 86, died Tuesday March 22, after a brief illness. By his wishes there will be no wake or funeral services.
He was born in Naugatuck, Conn., on Jan. 16, 1919, a son of Madeline and James M. Schaff. He graduated from Naugatuck High School and Bridgeport University.
He enlisted and served in the United States Navy in World War II with the Pacific fleet. He was a longtime member of American Legion Post 155. He enjoyed his occupation, tool making, and retired from General Electric in Auburn in 1983.
He loved working, fishing, hunting and helping others.
He leaves his wife, Anita D. Schaff; a sister, Althea Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, James F. Schaff and Brenda Schaff; son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. Schaff and Roberta Schaff; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard J. Schaff Jr., and Michelle Schaff; six grandchildren, Edward, Adam, Danielle, Daniel, Rebeccah and Deborah; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He also leaves many friends who were always present, and who were a constant source of enjoyment, companionship and assistance. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
