WILTON – Nomination papers for two selectmen’s seats and one school director are currently available at the town office. Deadline for nominations is April 22.

Seats held by Norman Gould and Jeff Rowe on the Board of Selectmen are up for election, as is Susan Black’s school board director’s position.

Town Manager Peter Nielsen said at a recent meeting, selectmen “listened sympathetically” to a list of problems with one of the Fire Department’s engines. Fire Chief Sonny Dunham told them also that he would like to build a hose tower at the station. Articles to address these issues are being considered for the town meeting warrant.

Selectmen issued a malt and vinous license to Hawk’s Nest.

They also thanked Kyle Ellis for his service to the town. Ellis recently resigned his duties at the town office to take a position as dispatcher with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

A recycling report indicated that residents recycled 38 percent of their solid waste in 2004, up 1 percent from 2003.

Selectmen will meet again at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Town Office. On the agenda is a discussion about a Community Development Block Grant for the Nichols/Bass facility, a proposal from Franklin Community Health Network for property at 24 School St., a zoning ordinance violation and suggested remedy, a proposed ordinance regulating live-aboard boats and a report on the Blueberry Festival.

Selectmen plan to begin budget discussions at a special meeting March 29.
