CONCORD, N.H. – Myra L. Stickney, 98, died Wednesday, March 23, at Pleasant View Center-Genesis Eldercare.

She was born Oct. 11, 1906, in Bristol, N.H., the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Ballou) Lord.

She was a graduate of Brighton, Mass., High School and attended New Hampshire and Maine state normal schools for teaching.

She taught grades one through four in a two-room school in Belgrade. She also taught at the Opportunity Farm for Boys in New Gloucester, four years in the New Gloucester school system and in the Rangeley school system. At the time of her retirement in 1966, she was teaching seventh and eighth grades in Gardiner.

She was a member of the National Education Association, the Maine Education Association, the National Retired Teachers Association and the Maine Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by two brothers, Murray Lord of Oklahoma and Edwin Lord of Bristol, N.H.; two sisters, Erma Lord of Laconia, N.H., and May Kemp of Concord, N.H.; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Raymond E. Stickney; a daughter, Myra Dell Stickney Hamilton in 1951; two brothers, Clifton Lord and Frederick Lord; and two sisters, Belle Lord and Ruth Wright.
