Our state legislators have done it this time. I am very, very angry at a government that would allow something so shady to fly. I’m referring to the proposed registration fee for non-motorized watercraft.

The government has taxed my home, my land, my car, my camper, my ATV, my clothes, my food, my gasoline, the use of my phone, the use of my computer, the electricity I use and now my recreation.

How do officials propose to find all the canoes in this state that are stashed at remote lakes and ponds that people have to walk to to enjoy? What is going to be taxed next in order to hire Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife personnel to enforce this law, the air I breathe?

Of all the sneaky, underhanded moves government has made, this is the limit. I hope the people of this state realize this is just the beginning.

It is no wonder the young people of our state are leaving. Get an education in Maine, then leave to make a living.

We are no longer known as Maineiacs, we are known as Mainetax.

I am sick of it.
