I feel compelled to write about Terri Schiavo, the woman whose feeding tube was removed after 15 years of being in a vegetative state. I can’t believe the nerve of Rep. Tom DeLay and Sen. Bill Frist to intervene in our judicial system as they did. Our Constitution clearly separates the executive, congressional and judicial powers, for very good reasons.

Besides, I have to point out that the only compassionate person seems to be Schiavo’s husband, who wants to honor the wish of his wife to die.

Schiavo’s parents are obviously in denial about their daughter’s situation. They seem to believe that she could be rehabilitated if she could be back home. I am amazed that they feel that they could do a better job then the entire medical world.

The loser in all this is Terri Schiavo, whose wish to die in dignity has been grossly disregarded for the last 15 years. Not to mention that we (the taxpayers) foot the bill for Schiavo’s care on a daily basis.

Maybe we should ask Bill Frist and Tom DeLay if they are willing to pay for Schiavo’s care in the future?
