PHILLIPS – Voters approved a comprehensive plan to guide the town into the future and increased funding to the Little League during the annual town meeting. All articles were approved.

Voters took about 2 hours to go through 59 articles and to complete town business Saturday, Town Manager Laura Toothaker said Monday.

Niilo Sillanpaa was elected as a selectmen to replace Guy Haines, who opted not to seek re-election.

Evelyn Wilbur was re-elected as town clerk and Alan Morse was re-elected as a SAD 58 director.

Voters increased the Little League donation from $200 to $500, Toothaker said.

Residents also voted to buy a sander and to allocate $5,946 for it. That figure reflects the trade-in value of the sander being replaced. The new sander’s cost is $7,946.

The most discussion, Toothaker said, came when voters were asked to spend $10,000 to set up an account for renovations at the old Primary School that belongs to the town.

The building has asbestos in it, she said, and it would need to be removed before the building is occupied.

The town’s spending package for 2005 is about $325,316, an increase over last year’s budget.
