LEWISTON – Patricia S. Adams, 78, of Bardwell Street, died just after midnight on March 26, at St. Mary’s Hospital from complications following surgery just days before.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1927, in Manchester, N.H., the daughter of Mitty and Kleonthi Joseph.

She worked for 18 years at the law firm of Linnell, Choate and Webber as a legal secretary. She retired in January, but immediately returned to work part-time as a legal librarian in order to stay close to those for whom she cared so deeply. Her work and service to the community were her life and she considered those with whom she worked as her extended family.

Her spirit was lively and invigorating, often catching her family off-guard with her passion on a wide range of topics. Active in the Albanian community in her youth, she continued to be active politically on both local and national levels; writing letters to the editor and to senators, members of Congress and presidents. She believed individuals should take an active part in politics in order to change the world.

She lived with her daughter, Lisa, and granddaughters, Samantha and Karli. She served not only as a mother to her own children, but to their children as well. Her love for her family was her gift. She was selfless and gave to others as much and as often as she could. She taught all of those she knew about dedication to family, friends and the world around her, and spoke of compassion for struggling people of all lifestyles. She was an amazing woman who will be missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by a son, Steven Adams of Jemison, Ala.; a daughter, Lisa Fletcher of Lewiston; five grandchildren, David Adams of Lawrenceville, Ga., Stefanie Adams of Medford, Mass., Ashley Adams of Birmingham, Ala., and Samantha and Karli Fletcher of Lewiston; two sisters, Nora Tito of Saco and Chris Taylor of Manchester, N.H.; a brother, George “Butch” Joseph of Manchester, N.H.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death 30 years ago by her husband and true love, Alexander Adams.
