FARMINGTON – Police arrested a man Tuesday afternoon at his High Street home after finding stolen computers there.

Phillip Rose, 28, was charged with violation of condition of release and theft about 4 p.m. when police executed a search warrant at his 226 High St. apartment. Rose was on bail for motor vehicle violations, said Detective Marc Bowering of the Farmington Police Department.

Two computers were reported stolen from Franklin Memorial Hospital – one from an environmental services laboratory and one from the second floor nurses’ station, he said. They were taken March 22 and 27, and were valued together at $1,400. Bowering said Rose absconded with the computers under a blanket.

At the time of his arrest, Rose admitted to taking the machines with the intent to sell them, police said.

Bowering said Rose was visiting family at the hospital when the thefts occurred. He said a hospital security guard helped lead police to the suspect. Officers Mary Pratt and Andrew Hufnagel also assisted in the investigation.

According to Jill Gray of Franklin Memorial Hospital, no patient data is stored on the computers, but rather on a server, so no confidential information was taken.

Rose is being held at the Franklin County Jail. He will be arraigned in court today.
