After reading the Rev. Fred Pease’s column (Sun Journal, March 30), I thought that maybe I was wrong. He did state that the governor’s budget reflected the values of Maine’s residents.
So I went to the bank and asked to borrow $60,000 at 6 percent interest, not the $450 million like the governor, with $66 million to put into the bank for a rainy day account. The banker asked what I needed the money for and, of course, how I would pay it back. I said I would use the money to purchase Dirigo health care for my family at twice what it costs anywhere else in the country and the rest would be put into the bank earning maybe 1 or 2 percent interest for my own personal rainy day account. I then said I would pay it back just like the governor will. By borrowing more in two years, I will refill my rainy day account so he shouldn’t worry.
