AUBURN – Viola V. Wade, 86, formerly of Lisbon, died Thursday afternoon, March 31, at the Odd Fellows Home, where she had been a resident for the past five years.

She was born in Lisbon, Nov. 11, 1918, a daughter of Lincoln and Myrtle (Clark) Bowie. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of the Lisbon community.

On April 20, 1938, she married Walter L. Wade, who predeceased her in 1995. She worked many years in retail sales, as a cook and health-care aide. She was a member of the Lisbon Falls Methodist Church.

She and Walter built a summer home in Nobleboro and resided there during the summers for more than 25 years. Among her favorite enjoyments in her free time were entertaining, fishing and travel.

She leaves a son, Dr. Richard L. Wade and his wife, Reta of Orange, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kendra Sue Caton-Wade of Leesburg, Va. and Matthew Wade of Orange, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Travis and Garrett of Leesburg, Va.; and a sister, May Jorden of Auburn.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Douglas Bowie, Roland Bowie and Clifford Bowie.
