ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Donald F. Lynch, 89, died in Ellensburg, Wash., on April 1.

He was born in Saco, on Aug. 2, 1915, to Francis E. and Lillian M. (King) Lynch. He graduated in 1933 from Thornton Academy and still enjoyed being an elder at the class reunions. In 1956, he graduated from Seattle University as a certified life underwriter.

In 1941, he entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving for 3 years as a military policeman. After the war, he entered the life insurance business, an occupation he loved for 60 years. He began at John Hancock Life Insurance Co., staying with that company even after he moved his family to the West Coast in Seattle, Wash. He later worked for Olympic National Life Insurance Co. and United Olympic Life Insurance Co. His last work years were spent as an independent agent in Anchorage, Ala. In his ’80s, he retired to the home of his eldest and youngest grandsons in Ellensburg, Wash.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Lynch, presently of Crescent City, Calif.; his sister, Doris Noddin and her husband, Lawrence, of Topsham; his brother, Paul R. Lynch and his wife, Joan, of Concord, N.H., and Lewiston; his grandsons, Marc Helgeson, Steven Helgeson and Michael Lynch; his granddaughters, Karen Hahn, Stacy Helgeson and Kelly Lynch; eight great-grandchildren; as well as his foster daughters, Toni Spacone, Linda Hedrick and Jo Marapodi.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, the former Gertrude Belair. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four daughters, Maureen Helgeson, Cecilia Lynch, Julie Storey and Christine Campbell.
