LEWISTON – Helen P. Rowe, 71, of Poland, died Tuesday, April 5, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Poland, on March 24, 1933, the daughter of Harvey and Reata Marshall Walker. She attended school in Mechanic Falls.
She had been employed at Norway Shoe and retired from General Electric in Auburn due to ill health. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Dwinal Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Mechanic Falls and the American Legion Post 150 Auxiliary in Mechanic Falls.
She enjoyed reading, plants, flowers, gardening, animals and birds, especially cardinals. She loved to dance and have fun. In her early years, she sang as one of “The Walker Sisters.” She married Charles H. Rowe in 1951.
She is survived by a daughter, Lauralee A. Thibeault and her husband, Alban J. Thibeault Jr., of Mechanic Falls; a son, Charles H. Rowe of Flowermound, Texas; four grandchildren, Matthew, Heather, Brookie and Jadie; one great-grandchild, Haley; two sisters, Arlene Currier of Deer Isle and Marjorie Woodson of Mechanic Falls; two brothers, Clifford Walker and his wife, Pearl, of Poland and Milton Walker and his wife, Anna, of Mechanic Falls; her favorite brother-in-law, Dale Rowe of Topsham; and her favorite sister-in-law, Linda Kimball of Poland.
She was predeceased by her husband; and a son, Larry, on April 8, 1952.
