BIDDEFORD – Joseph C. Billings, 55, of Chapel Street, and formerly of Lewiston, passed away Tuesday morning, April 5, at his residence, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on March 26, 1950, in Norway, a son of Charles and Junnetta Young Billings. He was educated in Lewiston schools.

He had a love for music and had a collection of over 500 CDs and cassettes. He enjoyed watching television, especially wrestling. He was a member of the former American Rescue Mission of Lewiston.

He spent many of his last days with Pastor Joel Mclain of Victory Chapel Church in Biddeford. He enjoyed Joel and his son Phillip’s singing and guitar playing. Beacon Hospice also took good care of him during his last days.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joyce Nickerson Billings, of Biddeford; one stepson, Scott Alexander and his wife, Kay, of Bath; two stepdaughters, Linann Skillings and her husband, Norman, of Biddeford and Robin of Maine; four brothers, Richard, Robert and Kenneth Billings, all of Lewiston and Dexter Billings of Rumford; three sisters, Betty Young, Janie Moody and Sandra Marshall, all of Lewiston; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Junnetta Young Dagget; and his stepfather, Elmer Daggett.
