BANGOR – This year’s 15th annual Bangor Garden Show has been expanded to include 17 landscapers, three demonstration locales and two floors filled with displays. The event will be held today through Sunday at the Bangor Auditorium and Civic Center.

“We know that folks really want to see new ideas and enjoy the essence of spring and that’s what we’re going to give them,” said Judith Perkins, executive director of Keep Bangor Beautiful, the nonprofit producing the event.

Highlights include a $5,000 garden giveaway, a window box, an anything-goes container garden contest and a Saturday night auction featuring more than 200 items for gardeners and outdoor enthusiasts.

Throughout the three-day event, a demonstration series will feature how-tos on a variety of topics ranging from French gardening to floral arranging. More than 80 vendors will sell Maine-made products, from balsam pillows to jams and jellies; there will also be a full concession court. Every aspect of the show, from landscape displays to vendors selling vases, will be judged.

Tickets: $8 for adults, $3 for students; children 5 and under admitted free. All proceeds from the event will go toward beautification and recycling projects in the Bangor area.
