RANGELEY PLANTATION – Anthony E. “Tony” Dias, 81, of Rangeley Plantation, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Thursday afternoon, April 7.
He was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Elizabeth, N.J., the son of Nicholas and Maxmina (Rosa) Dias. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and on July 21, 1945, married Barbara Varney in Sanford.
A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, Tony was employed for over 30 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1979 as a materials procurement specialist.
He is survived by his of 59 years, Barbara, of Rangeley Plantation, three daughters, Susan D. Ackley and her husband, Thomas, of Fryeberg, Nicki D. Clevenger and her husband, Carl, of Cameron Park, Calif., and Jill Dias and her husband, Thomas Wozniak, of Sanford; two granddaughters: Toni D. Clevenger of Cameron Park, Calif., and Katie S. Ackley of Fryeberg and UMO.
