AUGUSTA – Over the next five years the Delta Dental Plan of Maine Dental Hygiene Scholarship Fund will distribute $250,000 divided between the University of New England in Biddeford and the University of Maine at Augusta/University College of Bangor.

“We’ve never had a scholarship program in this realm given for students studying dental hygiene,” said Anne Curtis, coordinator of dental health programs at the University of Maine at Augusta/University College of Bangor. “It is the largest single scholarship donation in the history of the University of Maine, Augusta.”

The successful candidate will be a traditional or non-traditional student in good academic standing and will have given consideration to remaining in the state to practice their profession upon graduation.

For scholarship details students are encouraged to visit the University of New England www.une.edu and University of Maine, Augusta www.uma.maine.edu Web sites.

Delta Dental Plan of Maine is one of three Delta dental plans that comprise Northeast Delta Dental, which administers dental benefits to more than 650,000 individuals in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
