GENESEO, Ill. – Sally Hamby, 51, died April 11, at her home, following a lengthy illness and was surrounded by her devoted family.

Born in Pensacola, Fla., she lived in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1971. She moved to Ramona, Calif., in 1985 and worked as vice president of sales for Camelot, Mountain Lakes and Oak Glen Resorts.

She relocated to Florida in 1996 and owned and operated H & H Trading Post in Tarpon Springs, while working as a licensed real estate broker. She retired in 1999 as sales manager at the Indian Trails Resort in Colona, Ill.

She enjoyed singing and entertaining, having appeared on stage professionally, including appearing as part of a singing act at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.

Surviving is her companion, Jack Kem Jackson of Geneseo; one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Arthur Garrison of Eatontown, N.J.; four sisters, Suzanne Hamby of Raleigh, N.C., Kathy, Dan Hochberg of Ocean, N.J., Cindy Hamby of Corona Del Mar, Calif. and Mindy and Mike Miller of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, George Mark Hamby of Lewiston; and five nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Irene and Henry Carter Hamby; and by her beloved son, Jake, who died at the age of 25.
