NORWAY – Wayne Stanley Ellingwood Sr., 80, of South Paris, died Wednesday, April 13, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in South Paris, on March 3, 1925, the son of Raymond Cummings and Doris Ellingwood. He graduated from Paris High School.
He was an apple grower and a logger until entering the U.S. Air Force in 1943. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years and was later employed at A. C. Lawrence for 20 years.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, spending time with his family and building ponds. He married Sylvia Beatriz Sanchez on Feb. 20, 1971.
He is survived by his wife of South Paris; his mother, Doris Maxim of West Paris; six sons, Joseph of South Paris, Wayne S. Jr., of Quincy, Mass., Stephen A. of Stillwater, Mass., Nathan E. of Nashville, Tenn., Kenneth W. of Jerusalem, Israel, and Kevin L. of South Paris; four sisters, Thelma Holden of West Paris, Marilyn Wilson of San Antonio, Texas, Pearl Hamlin of Milford, N.H. and Barbara Jones of Hartford; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Maxim.
