PORTLAND – Les Yeux Noirs will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, in the Center for Cultural Exchange.

Led by two violin-playing brothers, Les Yeux Noirs is a French octet that fuses central European Gypsy and Klezmer sounds. The group performs traditional and original songs.

For 12 years, these musicians have been playing Yiddish and Gypsy music, supported by a growing audience. Both joyous and nostalgic, this nomadic music reflects the lives of persecuted people in exile, caught up in a massive diaspora.

Tickets are $19 in advance and $22 the day of show. They can be purchased through the center’s box office at 761-0591, online at www.centerforculturalexchange.org or at Bull Moose Music.
