KENNEBUNK – The 14th annual 5-mile Presidential Road Race and Kids Fun Run are scheduled for October 8. The races are sponsored by the Kennebunk Rotary Club. Traditionally, this event has been held in the spring.

Beginning and ending at the Consolidated School at 25 School St., Kennebunkport, the course passes along wooded stretches and continues directly along the coast with ocean views.

All runners must register and pick up their race packets at the Consolidated School. Registration will start at 8 a.m. Entries can also be obtained online at www.presidentialroadrace.com, or www.active.com.

The Kids Fun Run begins at 9:15 a.m., and the 5-mile race at 10:00. Race results will be posted at the Consolidated School gym.

The awards ceremony, including refreshments, will start at 12:00. A raffle will be held.

Net proceeds raised from sponsors of this race will help fund community services such as the Kennebunk Rotary Scholarship Program. The Kennebunk Rotary Club offers nearly $20,000 in scholarship awards to local students each year. Other recent recipients of proceeds include Maine Children’s Cancer Program, Tree of Life, Camp Sunshine, York County Child Abuse & Neglect Council, and the Salvation Army.
