LEWISTON – Rita Desjardins, a St. Peter and Sacred Heart School junior high school teacher, will be a guest speaker on Sunday, May 1, following the 8 a.m. breakfast meeting in the Dominican Conference Room. It is the final meeting of the season; meetings will resume in September.

Desjardins received her bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. She taught in the public school system for five years and also was involved in religious education in her parish.

She continued her education at St. Joseph’s College and earned a diocesan certificate for catechetical leadership and for initiation. In 1998, Desjardins earned a certificate for spiritual direction from the Mercy Institute in Arizona. She is enrolled in the Library Science Program at the University of Maine at Augusta.

She is a former director of faith formation at Saints Peter and Paul Parish and is a lector at the parish. Her topic will be “Passing on Traditions.”
