GREENVILLE, S.C. – Cheryl Vickerson, 56, formerly of New Gloucester, passed away Tuesday, April 19, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born on Jan. 2, 1949, in Gray, the daughter of Leslie Sr., and Mavis Jordan Peaco of New Gloucester. She attended Memorial School in New Gloucester and graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 1967.

She worked many years for Cole Farms Restaurant as a waitress and for Unum Insurance for several years. She moved to Greenville, S.C., to attend Bob Jones University and had worked 16 years in various offices for the university, more recently in the purchasing department.

She knew everyone and had many friends; they all loved her. She loved all people, little children, all animals and her flower garden, and had a great love for cooking and collecting cookbooks. She loved coming home at Christmas just to see the snow.

She is survived by her mother, Mavis Peaco; a sister, Diane Peaco; three brothers, Lawrence Peaco and Wesley Peaco, both of New Gloucester and Leslie Peaco Jr., of Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Leslie Peaco Sr.; and a sister, Donna Peaco.
