AUGUSTA – Nicholas Paul Radsky, 86, of High Street, Hallowell, died Tuesday, April 19, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, following a long illness.

He was born in Augusta, on April Fools Day, April 1, 1919, a son of Russian immigrants, the late Paul K. and Tatiana (Mahnach) Radsky. He was a 1937 graduate of Cony High School and subsequently graduated from the Hemphill Diesel Engineering School in New York City.

On June 6, 1942, he married June (Blake) Radsky of Hallowell.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following his discharge, he worked at Bath Iron Works and various other enterprises, before beginning a 30-year career with Central Maine Power Co. During that tenure, he rose from hydro mechanic to superintendent of Northern Hydro, before retiring in 1981.

He was a true trout fisherman. He had an active retirement and lived every day to the fullest. Following his retirement, he spent his winters tying flies and manufacturing lures in preparation for his longed-for spring, summer and fall fishing expeditions to his cherished “Moxie” camp in West Forks. He loved to work with metal and spent his spare time fabricating trailers.

He was a member of the Hallowell Cemetery Burial Committee and was a former member of the Central Maine Power Historical Society.

Survivors include one son, Peter B. Radsky and his wife, Mary, of Hallowell; one daughter, Judith R. Olson of Saco; one brother, Alex P. Radsky of Augusta; one grandson, Benjamin R. Olson of Portland; four granddaughters, Tanya R. Lomino and her husband, Michael, of Jefferson, Mass., Marija R. Grange and her husband, Shannon, of Milford, Kristina L. Olson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Stephanie A. Olson of Saco; three adored great-grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Vincent and William; as well as three nephews and one niece.

He was predeceased by his wife, June, in 1989; and by his sister, Luba R. Brower in 2004.
