AUBURN – Workers plan to close Mechanics Row on Friday as they complete the reconstruction of the downtown street.

The street will close about 8:30 a.m. so workers can finish smoothing the street, which passes beside Auburn Hall and the city’s new parking garage.

They hope to pave the street on Monday. Workers expect it will be open for vehicles during that work.

“We’re going to try to keep traffic going and get the work done at the same time,” said Paul Neihoff, pavement management technician for the city of Auburn.
