LIVERMORE FALLS – Danielle Gray had seven strikeouts and walked just two batters, and the Livermore Falls Andies’ defense played solid behind her, leading the team to a 7-6 win over the Dirigo Cougars in MVC softball action on Friday.

Gray also led the Andies (1-1) with two hits, both singles, while Sam Whiting and Katie Warren each had doubles.

Kaylie Daley led Dirigo (0-1) with three hits, while Shannon Daley, Michelle Holmquist and Katie Hutchinson each had a pair. Hutchinson took the loss on the mound despite a furious, three-run Dirigo rally in the top of the seventh.

Brunswick 4, Oxford Hills 1

BRUNSWICK – Brunswick scored four runs on Oxford Hills errors in the third inning Friday to take a 4-1 victory in KVAC softball action.

Chelsea Blais held the Vikings to just four hits and one run. Oxford Hills hurler Randi Arsenault gave up just three hits, but was hampered by six Vikings errors in the field.

The Vikings (1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the third when Diann Ramsey’s squeeze bunt scored Annie Foster. Brunswick answered in the bottom of the inning with four unearned runs. Two runs came in off an error on a Whitney Therlow bunt. Then another error on an Emily Pollock hit brought in two more.

Skowhegan 15, EL 0

AUBURN – Cassy Martell peppered three hits as Skowhegan bruised the ball 14 times in a 15-0 rout over Edward Little in softball action Friday.

Whitney Fortier and Nicole McGraw each had a pair of doubles for the Indians (1-1), while Val Derouche contributed a pair of singles.

Ashley Pepin had the lone hit for the Red Eddies (1-1). Edward Little committed eight errors over five innings of play.

Messalonskee 3, Leavitt 0

TURNER – Ashley Currier crossed the plate with the winning run on a throwing error sending Messalonskee to a 3-0 win over host Leavitt in KVAC softball play.

Amanda Barker pitched a complete game shutout for the Eagles (2-0). She received support at the plate from Lauren Suttie who rapped out a pair of hits including a double.

Brittaney Gurney took the loss, allowing eight hits in a complete game effort.

Lincoln 15, Oak Hill 3

NEWCASTLE – Catcher Niki Poland went 4-for-5 with a double and a triple to lift Lincoln Academy to a 15-3 win over Oak Hill in softball action Friday.

The Eagles (1-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one, and knocked the Raiders’ (0-1) starting pitcher, Danni Potvin, from the game after two with a 5-1 lead.

Oak Hill regained a pair of runs in the third and gave up single tallies in the third and fourth to trail 7-3, going into the fifth frame. That’s when the leak turned into a full blown gusher. The Eagles scored eight runs on eight hits to close out the game with the 10-run rule.

The Raiders were paced by Ashley Malinowski, Chelsea Rioux and Angie Russell with two hits apiece, including a triple from Magan Blais.
