Kudos to Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello of Minot for her fine leadership. She is seeking to keep our state of Maine budget within affordable limits. Sen. Snowe-Mello is serving her first term as a Maine state senator, having previously served multiple terms as a Maine state representative.
Sen. Snowe-Mello sees clearly the danger of escalating state budgets, encompassing the proliferation of governmental programs. She is to be commended for promoting a spirit of industry and self-reliance among the people of Maine. This is in sharp contrast to those politicians who promote reliance upon government, with resultant high taxation and burgeoning debt.
This writer desires to see the people of Maine elect more state legislators who will balance compassion for people in need with restraint in spending. More senators and representatives are needed in Augusta who will work to eliminate unnecessary taxation and make our state government leaner while providing necessary services.
