It will be well for the owners and operators of automobiles and other motor vehicles to familiarize themselves with the law of the road in general, as passed by the Legislature of 1905. According to the provisions of the law no automobiles or motor vehicle shall be driven or operated on any public highway, street, avenue, driveway, park or parkway, at a greater rate of speed than 15 miles an hour, or within the compact or built up portions of any city, town or village, the limits of which shall be fixed by the municipal officers thereof, at a greater rate of speed than eight miles an hour, unless such city or town may permit a greater rate.

50 Years Ago, 1955

After 23 years of waiting, the people of Lewiston will have the opportunity this winter of seeing their secondary school pupils staging a minstrel show in their “own” auditorium, playing basketball in their “own” gymnasium, hearing school musicians practicing in their “own” bandroom and witnessing other extra-curricular activities that formerly had to be held elsewhere – usually the nearby Armory – for lack of such high school facilities.
