LEWISTON – Lorraine J. Gagne, 68, of Lewiston, died peacefully Sunday, April 24, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Lewiston, on Nov. 21, 1936, the daughter of Felix and Violet (Boulay) Gagne. She was educated in local schools.

She worked at Bonan Shoe Co. for 20 years, until her retirement. After her retirement, she enjoyed gatherings of family and friends. She was a second mom to her nieces and nephew, and to their children. If one couldn’t find her, they looked for the kids and she surely would always be there.

She enjoyed reading the newspaper, bowling, puzzles, shopping, eating out with her friends and mostly helping others with anything and everything. She always gave of herself to others and never expected anything in return.

She was a member of Holy Cross Church.

Survivors include her only brother, Normand Gagne and his wife, Doris, of Lewiston; her two nieces, Monique Labbay and her husband, David, of Bowdoin and Anita Lalonde and her husband, David, of Lewiston; her nephew, Daniel Gagne of Lewiston; and her grandnieces and nephews, Zachary, Benjamin, Sasha and Nicole Labbay, Douglas, Jessica and Allison Lalonde, and Michael and Amy Gagne. She also leaves behind her 8-year-old parakeet, “Little Guy.”

She was predeceased by her parents; and her only sister, Rita Gagne in 2002.

She was a special woman, sister, aunt and friend to all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched. She also had a special place in her heart for her dialysis family of three and a half years.
