FARMINGTON – A former Industry town clerk, through her attorney, has entered a not guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of theft.
Cathy Frazier, 34, of Industry has a trial date set for June 1 at 12th District Court in Farmington.
Frazier, the former town clerk and treasurer in Industry, was summoned on a charge of theft in March for allegedly taking between $25,000 and $26,000 from the town over three years.
She had repaid the money prior to the charge’s being issued and had planned to reimburse the town for the money it spent to hire a firm to review the financial books, her attorney, Kevin Joyce, said last month.
Frazier started taking the money six months after she was elected to office three years ago, Franklin County Sheriff’s Detective Tom White said in March.
Frazier was initially scheduled to appear in the Farmington court today.
But Joyce entered a not guilty plea by letter to the court on March 16, and Frazier is now scheduled to appear June 1.
Joyce was unavailable for comment Tuesday.
