MEXICO – Maurice A. Richard, 79, died Tuesday, April 24, at his residence. He lived on Riverside Park drive in Mexico.

Born in Rumford, on Nov. 28, 1925, he was a son of Wilfred and Ida (Lemay) Richard. He attended schools in Upton and Newry.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman first class from 1944 to 1946. For more than 40 years he worked at Boise Cascade until his retirement in 1986 as a machine tender on the super calendars.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Church. He loved the outdoors and going to camp on East B Hill. He was a member of Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion, Robert Shand Post 1641, VFW, Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, FOE and LeParesseux Snowshoe Club.

He was married in Rumford, on June 7, 1947, to his devoted wife, Adeline Arsenault, who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include two daughters, Peggy Rench and her husband, Frank, of Mexico and Susan Patrick and her husband, William, of Greenbush; three sons, Larry Richard of Upton, Gary Richard and his wife, Debbie, of Andover and Jerry Richard and his wife, Kathy, of Rumford; three sisters, Belle Nadeau of Rumford, Irene Gallant and husband, Ivon, of Rumford and Marilyn “Suzy” Fournier and her husband, Roger, of Mexico; three brothers, Alfred Richard of Mexico, Edmund Richard and his wife, Jeannette, of Sabattus and Donald Richard and his wife, Joyce, of Farmington; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a sister, Blondie McKenna; and two brothers, Omer and Leonard.
