AUBURN – Scott Thayer Auto (3) is the 2005 playoff champion in the Auburn Rec Men’s Slowdown Basketball League.

The Automen were undefeated entering the finals this week. However, once-beaten Brew Crew (2) edged Thayer 59-56 in the first championship round match. Keith Danner led with 17 points. Joe Harris added 15. James Whirley paced the Automen with 17. Chris Randall was next with 11.

That set up the second and deciding contest, and this time Thayer prevailed 70-57 as Whirley poured in 25 points and Dave Ferraro 16. Danner netted 23 for Crew. Bill Martin added 19.
