LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Cheryl Elaine Hanson, 53, of Lake Forest, Ill., formerly of Lewiston, died as the result of a car accident along with her husband, Dr. Albert W. Abram, Saturday, April 23, in Vinton, La.

She was born in Kittery, on Sept. 6, 1951, and was the daughter of Edwin F. and Frances (Shaw) Pinkham. She was a 1969 graduate of Waterville High School and attended Thomas College.

She lived in Lewiston for many years where she raised her daughter and did secretarial work for several businesses. She moved to Buffalo, N.Y., for several years before returning to Maine. In 1995, she met her husband, Dr. Albert W. Abram, and moved to the Chicago area. They attended Northbrook Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and summers in Illinois.

She was a very outgoing person and enjoyed volunteer work at Maine Public Television in Lewiston; working on church suppers, neighborhood activities and in community groups. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the “Jazzy Poms,” and sang with the “Sweet Adelines” and other choruses.

Her hobbies included playing shuffleboard, bowling, china painting, and most of all, singing. She will be remembered for her faithful correspondence to family and friends through greeting cards, postcards and letters.

Surviving is her daughter, Tonia Tibbetts and her husband, Mark, of Searsmont; her parents, Edwin F. and Frances Pinkham of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Stephen E. Pinkham and his wife, Michelle, of Skowhegan; one sister, Carol L. Sintes and her husband, Gary, of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one granddaughter, Mallory Tibbetts of Searsmont; two nephews, Nicholas and Christopher Sintes of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two nieces, Stacy and Lindsey Pinkham of Skowhegan; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
