LEWISTON – Jean R. Champagne, 75, of 70 Blake St., Lewiston, died Sunday, May 1, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness.

He was born in St. George, Quebec, June 16, 1929, the son of Adelard and Marie Champagne and had been a resident of this community since 1957.

He was educated in the Canadian school system and was employed as a mechanic in the local textile industry.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, camping, boating and walking. He also enjoyed cooking and was famous for his meat pies. He loved traveling to Canada with his wife, Theresa.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Theresa Rodrigue, of Lewiston, whom he married on Nov. 2, 1957; one brother; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
