BANGOR – Yellow Light Breen, vice president/general counsel, has been promoted to senior vice president of Bangor Savings Bank.

In addition to his duties as legal counsel, Breen is the senior executive with oversight of human resources and is the clerk of the corporation.

Prior to joining the bank in 2002, he was director of special projects and external affairs at the Maine Department of Education. He as also assistant legal counsel for Gov. Angus King Jr. from 1997 to 1999. From 1996 to 1997 he was the law clerk for Judge Stephanie K. Seymour, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit.

A graduate of Nokomis Regional High School in Newport, Breen earned a bachelor of arts degree from Harvard University and later earned his law degree from Harvard Law School. He serves on the policy board of the Promising Futures Program at the Sen. George J. Mitchell Scholarship Research Institute.
