LEWISTON – Two Lewiston police officers were re-sworn as detectives last week as the Attorney General’s Office recognized the pair as key investigators of computer crime.
Sgt. James Rioux and Detective Scot Bradeen were lauded during the ceremony for their work with the Maine Computer Crimes Task Force.
Rioux is one of the original members of the task force and is one of four certified forensic computer examiners in the state. He was assigned to the team in 2000. Bradeen joined the task force in 2002 and has also obtained his certification as a forensic examiner.
Attorney General Stephen Rowe said: “The task force provides an extremely unique and valuable asset to law enforcement in the state of Maine.”
Lewiston Police Chief William E. Welch has been instrumental to the task force since the inception of the unit, according to Rowe. He has been a driving force in its continued operation and serves as the chairman of the advisory board to the unit.
