PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior pitcher Kim Jeffs fired a complete game, two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts to lead Plymouth State to a 1-0 win over the University of Southern Maine in the second round of the 2005 Little East Conference Softball Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Huskies’ (23-19-1) senior pitcher Melissa Henderson had an impressive outing in the loss, recording 11 strikeouts and two walks over six innings, and gave up just one hit in the bottom of the fifth.

Unfortunately for Henderson both walks and the hit came in the same inning as the Panthers (15-17) edged out the Huskies for the 1-0 finale.

Junior shortstop Jess Fortin belted the single that scored junior first baseman Rose Eaton, who had earlier drew a one-out walk for the win.
