FARMINGTON – In celebration of National Hospital Week, Franklin Memorial Hospital will offer a hospital tour at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, for those interested in seeing the new family birthing and pediatric units, expanded outpatient areas, ambulatory surgical center and education center may attend.

Those interested in taking part should sign up by calling the Community Relations Department at 779-2555 or 1-800-398-6031. Don Garrison, chief of facilities management, will give the tours, which will begin in the front lobby. They should be completed in an hour.

College workshop

WILTON – Adults who are considering college are invited to participate in a free college-planning workshop to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the Wilton CareerCenter. The workshop is sponsored by the Maine Educational Opportunity Center.

The center helps adult students to overcome class, social, academic and cultural barriers to higher education. Services include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college, workplace and college visits and assistance in applying for financial aid.

Society program

FARMINGTON – The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Farmington Public Library. The program will focus on city directories and town registers and their value in genealogical research. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.

Cemetery meeting

MADRID – The Madrid Cemetery Association will meet at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Madrid Schoolhouse. All those interested in seeing that the cemeteries are taken care of are asked to attend. For more information, contact Evelyn at 265-4003.

Auction slated

FARMINGTON – The Farmington Falls Fire Co. will hold an auction at noon Sunday, May 15, at the Philbrick Field House to benefit youth baseball in the area. Those attending are asked to bring their own chairs. There will be catering on the grounds.
