FARMINGTON – Ruby M. Ellsworth, 88, of Farmington, died Saturday, May 7, at Sandy River Center for Health Care in Farmington.

She was born March 4, 1917, in Strong, a daughter of the late Merton Edwin and Maude Blossom (Ranger) Hillier.

On Nov. 10, 1944, she married Francis Hugh Ellsworth in Strong.

She was a member of the Old South First Congregational Church of Farmington since 1946. For 14 years, she taught at the Red School House, then at SAD 9, until retiring in 1982. She enjoyed knitting and especially crocheting, was a member of the Maine Farm Bureau Extension and was a former member of the Red School House Sewing Circle.

She is survived by a son, Ralph M. Ellsworth and his wife, Patricia, of Farmington; a sister, Olive Umbro of Rumford; two nieces; two nephews; and two cousins.

In addition to her husband of more than 24 years, who died on Nov. 23, 1968, she is preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Hillier; and a brother, the Rev. Maxwell M. Welch.
