PARIS – Former Norway Police Chief Timothy B. Richards of Lovell pleaded guilty to drunken driving Monday in Oxford County Superior Court.

He was fined $600, and his license was suspended 90 days, Clerk Donna Howe said.

Richards, 45, was arrested by Rumford police at 5:24 p.m. March 5 after a cell phone caller reported seeing a vehicle being operated erratically on Route 2, a police report stated. He was charged with operating under the influence. Richards became police chief in 1999 and was fired in 2004 after a former Norway officer filed a protection-from-abuse order against him.
