LEWISTON – Wilbur C. Peters, 76, of Auburn, died suddenly at Central Maine Medical Center Wednesday evening, May 11.

Born in Madison, Ind., on July 9, 1928, the son Grayden and Olive (Mikesell) Peters. He attended Purdue University and was a graduate of Capital Radio Engineering Institute in Washington, D.C.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was civilian contractor for the Department of Navy for many years around the world.

He loved spending time at his camp in East Machias, and also enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing.

He also had been active with the Masons in East Machias.

On Oct. 22, 1955, he married the former Margaret McGrath who survives him of Auburn; as do two sons, John Scott Peters, and James Michael Peters, both of Auburn; three sisters, Mrs. Jack (Evelyn) Bowling of Columbus, Ind.; Mrs. Richard (Mary) Flamm of Melbourne, Fla.; Mrs. Woody (Faye) Daugherty of Madison, Ind.; and also surviving is one grandson, Ethan Peters, of Durham.
