WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) – A New Hampshire man has been charged with kidnapping in a 1997 case in which two men invaded an elderly Royalton couple’s home, bound the couple with duct tape and stole more than $20,000 in cash and other items.

Vermont State Police said Daniel Daigle, 31, of Manchester, N.H., has been extradited back to Vermont to face the charge. A police statement did not identify or detail the status of Daigle’s alleged accomplice.

Police said Daigle and his partner entered the home of Warren and Catherine Williams, both 76 at the time, on Feb. 11, 1997, wearing masks and brandishing a handgun. The handgun was fired and the Williamses were forced to the floor with their hands tied behind their backs with the tape.

Police said they received information last month that led to the recovery of some of the Williamses’ items in Manchester, N.H. They then got a search warrant, recovered more of the Williamses’ property and the gun believed used in the crime, and arrested Daigle.
