SABATTUS – Linda D. Cousineau Norton, 50, wife of Gary Norton, of Sabattus, went to be with the Lord on May 17, after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer, with her family by her side.

She was born in Portland, on June 19, 1954, a daughter of Louis P. “Phil” and Dorothy A. (Gendreau) Cousineau. She married Gary Norton on Sept. 4, 1999.

For many years, she operated a day-care center at her former home in Auburn. She last worked at Frosty’s Doughnut Shop in Brunswick.

She was a long-distance runner. Her dream was to run in the Boston and New York marathons. Circumstances, however, precluded fulfillment of that dream.

In addition to her husband of Sabattus and her parents of Brunswick, she is survived by two daughters, Michelle L’Heureux of Newton, Mass., and Danielle Michaud of Auburn; three granddaughters; one grandson; two sisters, Florence Lebel and her husband, David, of Brunswick and Dorothea Edmondson and her husband, Steven, of Topsham; three brothers, Louis II “Zoo Cain” and his wife, Alexandrea Taylor, of South Portland, Robert of Port Richie, Fla., and Roger of Key West, Fla.

She will be sadly missed by all who were touched by her sweet spirit.
