SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Bates College junior Will Boe-Wiegaard fell in the finals Monday to claim second place in the NCAA Division III men’s tennis national championships.
Boe-Wiegaard dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Matt Seeberger from UC-Santa Cruz, who won the championship for the second consecutive year. Seeberger did not lose a set in the tournament.
The tourney’s fourth seed, Boe-Wiegaard defeated Seeberger’s teammate Kevin Casey in the quarterfinals and Cal Lutheran’s Quinn Calderon in the semifinals. Both matches lasted three sets.
