MONMOUTH – Funeral services for Mrs. Brown were held Monday afternoon, May 23, at the United Church of Monmouth, Monmouth. The Rev. Gerhardt Miller officiated at the services starting with the opening prayers and reading Scriptures, Matthew 25: 31-40 and Revelations 21: 1-5. Poems that Mary had written were read by the Rev. Bob Blake, and he also led the congregation in the reading of the 23rd Psalm and Lord’s Prayer. Hymns “He Leadeth Me O Blessed Thought,” “Hymn of Promise” and “For All the Saints” were sung by the congregation. Special musical selections played by cellist, William Myers, and flutist, Diana Brown, and were “My Heart Ever Faithful” and a hymn medley arranged by Diana that included “Sweet Hour of Prayer,” “I Come to the Garden Alone” and ” Beyond the Sunset.” Soloist Tricia Griffin sang “Kum Bah Yah” and the organist was Marion Donnell. Reflections were spoken by Sharon Brown, Ben Blodgett and Kendall Brown. The service was concluded with the benediction by the Rev. Miller. Interment for Charles and Mary Brown were held together at Monmouth Ridge Cemetery, Monmouth.
